In September 2018, Safeus Drone, a South Korean company engaged in the development and production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) opened a representative office and a research center for the development and production of unmanned aerial vehicles in Kropyvnytskyi (former Kirivohrad). The opening ceremony was held in one of the educational buildings of the Flight Academy belonging to the National Aviation University, as reported on the website of the Kirovograd Regional State Administration. The opening ceremony was attended by the head of the regional state administration Sergiy Kuzmenko, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea in Ukraine Mr. Lee Young Gu and members of Ukraine’s Parliament.
It is a positive sign that that the country that occupies the leading position among the most innovative countries worldwide chose a Ukrainian city for cooperation. Ukrainian-South Korean cooperation in the development of unmanned aerial vehicles will allow university students to learn how to work with UAVs. Moreover, the company plans to open a UAV maintenance center on the premises of the Kropyvnytskyi Flight Academy.
After the opening ceremony, the South Korean drone manufacturer presented its new products. The academy students, in turn, demonstrated the drones specially designed for use in agriculture, energy sector, and fire rescue operations.
